What is a rectified tile? *Visit zcollection.com/rectified-nonrectified for all information on this topic. A rectified porcelain tile is a tile that has been mechanically finished after firing to ensure precise, uniform dimensions and perfectly straight edges. Key Characteristics: Edges are machine-cut (not molded), resulting in sharp, clean, 90-degree angles. Allows for very thin grout lines, typically 1/16" (1.5 mm) or even less. Ensures consistency in size, which is especially important for large-format tiles or installations where a seamless look is desired. Benefits: Modern, sleek appearance — minimal grout joints enhance a clean, contemporary style. Better alignment — easier to achieve tight, flush installations without lippage (height differences between tiles). Ideal for walls or floors where precision and aesthetics are a priority. Note: Because of the tight grout lines, subfloor or wall prep needs to be nearly perfect to avoid imperfections showing. Typically slightly more expensive than non-rectified tiles due to the extra manufacturing step.
What is an Inkjet face? An inkjet face refers to the surface design of a tile that’s printed using inkjet printing technology — the same basic concept as an inkjet printer for paper, but adapted for ceramics. What it means in tile: "Face" refers to the visible surface of the tile. "Inkjet" means the design was applied using digital inkjet printing, a high-resolution method that allows for extremely realistic patterns and textures. Benefits of inkjet technology: Hyper-realistic visuals — mimics natural materials like marble, wood, or stone with incredible detail. Multiple faces per design — manufacturers can produce tiles with dozens or even hundreds of unique faces, reducing repetition and giving a more natural look. Fine detailing — can replicate subtle color changes, veining, fossils, and textures. Consistency — color and design control is more accurate than traditional screen printing methods. Why it matters: If someone says a tile has an “inkjet face,” they’re usually referring to: A digitally printed surface with detailed and realistic graphics Often part of a collection with multiple faces (design variations) for a more authentic look
