When choosing between Color Body Porcelain, Through-Body Porcelain, and Glazed Porcelain, it’s important to consider factors like durability, aesthetic flexibility, and the intended use of the space.

  • For Aesthetic Flexibility: Color Body Porcelain offers the best design options, with a broad range of patterns, textures, and finishes while still maintaining strong durability and ease of maintenance. Ideal for spaces where appearance and durability need to coexist.

  • For High-Traffic or Risk of Damage: Through-Body Porcelain is the most durable choice. Its uniform color and composition make it highly resistant to damage, ensuring long-lasting performance even in the most demanding spaces.

  • For Moisture Resistance and Visual Appeal: Glazed Porcelain is a great option for areas where moisture resistance is key, and design variety is important. It may not be the best choice for high-traffic areas.

Ultimately, the choice between these three types of porcelain tiles depends on your specific needs—whether that’s durability in high-traffic spaces, aesthetic design flexibility, or moisture resistance in wet environments.

Note: The term "through body" is now considered obsolete in the porcelain industry, and products are generally categorized as color body unless otherwise specified.

Durability: High. While the surface is glazed, the consistent color throughout the body minimizes the visibility of chips or scratches.

Aesthetic Flexibility: Very High. Offers a wide range of patterns, textures, and finishes (gloss, matte, lappato, textured) and can mimic materials like wood, stone, fabric, or leather.

Maintenance: Easy to maintain. Resists stains and is easy to clean.

Best for: Commercial spaces that require both durability and aesthetic versatility, such as lobbies, retail areas, and offices.

Durability: Extremely High. The uniform color and pattern throughout the tile make it highly resistant to chips or scratches. It’s perfect for areas with heavy foot traffic.

Aesthetic Flexibility: Low to Moderate. Typically, available in solid colors or simple patterns, but less variety.

Maintenance: Low maintenance. It’s highly durable and resistant to wear, though some patterns or textures may require more frequent cleaning in certain environments.

Best for: High-traffic areas like hallways, airports, or industrial spaces where durability and resistance are crucial.
